My Heart

music: Eve 6, Soup Dragons, Deathcab for Cutie, Plain White T's
mood: Lovely.

"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye." – Antoine de Saint- Exupery

The heart is a hollow, muscular organ. I find it amusing that we call organs...well...organs. The heart is an organ, indeed it makes a certain undeniable music, not unlike...and organ. The heart does sing, it is an instrument. At least mine does. It has four chambers. I like too that we refer to them as chambers. Little rooms. Rooms for secrets, and silence, rooms for echos, and solitude, rooms that make up a home for the ones you love. The hearts of fish only have two chambers. Does this mean the love less or they their love is smaller? Frogs have 3 chambers. Does this mean their love is odd?

For the first 21 days of your life, you live without a heart, or rather your mothers heart beats for you while yours grows. I imagine one of the most surreal experiences, one of the most difficult and beautiful things to describe would be hearing the heart of your child beat inside you for the first time. Though millions of women experience it, I don't imagine you can accurately describe exactly WHAT that is like. I think that it is fascinating to ponder the concept that something such as a heart, that is so vital to one's existance, is absent for three weeks at the beginning of it. The heart is central, literally (it lies more center than it does to the left as people suppose). The heart is pivital. And yet, it is independent.

The heart does not require a signal from the brain to beat. The electrical field of the heart is approximately 50 times stronger than the brain and the magnetic field of the heart is 5,000 times stronger than the magnetic field of the brain. This makes sense to me in many ways. this makes sense becuase your heart often times is describe as having no logic, but you can listen to it a lot easier, feel it working a lot more clearly than you can your brain I think. It is giving off more electricity and more magnetism than your brain. It is like your brains child. It's impulsive. It's emotional. Delicate. Sensitive. And without knowing its limits, it is seemingly invincible. No wonder it is connected with love. And conversely, with heartbreak.

The electrical field itself of the heart can be measured 8 feet away from your body and when two bodies communicate the heart rhythms of one individual can be measured in the other. This explains a lot. I think my heart is an over acheiver. I think 8 feet is a joke. I have no doubt, the power for a transatlantic heart meld. No doubt. What-so-ever. He can feel the effects miles and miles from me. And I can feel his.

Your heart will beat, should all go well, approximately 100,000 a day, about 35 million times a year and 2 1/2 billion times in your average (in length not achievement) lifetime. Unless you are a hummingbird in which case it will beat 1200 times a minute. I wonder if they fall in love faster? Or if you are an earthworm in whcih case, I am sorry to inform you, you have no heart. But you do have something else that serves the same practical purpose, and I wager are just as capable of love as well.

The Blood that your heart pumps travels 12,000 miles a day. About the distance from San Jose, CA to Plymouth, England and back again, with distance to and from the airport taken into account. Or about the distance to Windhoek, Namibia from the Bay Area.

If you hold out both your handsand make fists, you would be simulating the aproximate size of your heart. But with every heartbreak your heart stretches as it heals, and it is able to hold more the next time your let love in. And with love. REAL love. Unconditional, reciprocated, amazing love, the capacity of love in your heart is indeed, infinite. All laws of science, probability and imagination are broken in the presence of true love.

There are over 2000 heart transplants every year in the United states alone. A heart can survive over 24 hours after the brain is dead of it's attatched human. I'm not sure how long it can survive seperated from it's soulmate. I wager dozens if not millions of lifetimes would be a safe estimate. Even in my weakest, my heart's strength inspires and surprises me. And within every beat of my heart, a lifetime passes.

I love you. Hurry up.

big grin

Countdown...suspended

music: Robbie Williams
mood: Limbo

As karma payback no doubt for hosing all the spiders off the entryway ceiling unforseen circumstances have suspended the countdown. So math apparently doesn't matter so much. Spiders however, run the world. I cringed while doing it, and hoped the wouldn't die so much as just be encouraged to bild their communal living spaces further from the dimly lit door to the house. Alas, they came back in full force to interrupt my life and the life of loved ones. I must now pray to the arachnid gods for forgiveness. The porch does look more inhabited though...plenty of time to grow a new crop of spiders by halloween no doubt.

So, it would appear that the Spaceshuttle Atlantis and I have something in common. Delays as the debris of life is identified, sorted, dealt with and we are given the green light. And so we wait....for maybe a few days, and more likely a few weeks or heaven forbid a few months....

In the meantime, last weekend to see Bill of WRights...

Oh Canada

music: Avril, Alanis, Our Lady Peace, Bare Naked Ladies...
mood: Cranky.

Well it's all maple leaves this week. Rockstar conclude and proved there IS a reality TV show god. I sat watching all twisted in knots ready to be upset that Toby ( Annoying Aussie Billy Idol Impersonater) or Dilana (Bitchy Goth Drama queen) would win and was surprised (As was justin when I screamed) that they chose Lukas Rossi, Laid back, punk Canadian. Oh yeah. He's been so solid and greatl He does a bit of a mick jagger strut but his voice is great his style very diverse and I think he will be great. My favorite is, he's is so down to earth. When they announced his name, no histrionics at all. It was Killer. He sang two Super Nova songs and an acoustic version of his original which I quite liked. They will do well. Until next summer then.

Saw a candian independent film called Phil the Alien. Boy it was odd. Good, but very odd. Alcoholic alien in the back country woods kind of plot...I don't think I had enough to drink while watching this film, but I can certainly give it kudos for being bizarre and entertaining. 3 RRD's

Also saw Benchwarmers. I do dig David Spade. It got a bit old, and the bathroom humor was pretty crude at times, but I laughed out loud several times. Jon Lovitz's house in the movie is awesome. 3 RRD's. I was a bit weirded out by rob Schneider acting the straight man the whole way through. Uhmmm...okay...oscar? Not.

I know I will get crucified here by at least one person, but I tried watching Say Anything last night. I've always liked John Cusack and Joan but this movie was lame. It's no better off dead, it's no pretty in pink even. I'm firing this movie. I got over an hour into it and gave up. No witty dialouge, nothing. I won't give it a cruise/keanu but I will give it 1 RRD.

And speaking of non sequitors... The free upgrade of my phone finally came. Let's start a pool to see how long this one lasts. It has pretty lights, a camera, mp3 player, voice recorder and all sorts of fun stuff which I'm sure Iwon't even get to use before it commits phonacide. I pray daily to the phone gods.

Greenwoods making waves...Check out the September Slide of the Month at the Palo Alto Camera Club. I'm very proud of my papa.

And a Metro Review of Bill of (W)Rights...The Milpitas post will be out next week...

Cast party tongiht at the Highland Palace, need to make a supply run to BEVMO for a few extras...

6 days...mmmmmmm

Rights, Raves, and Reviews

music: Vienna Teng
mood: Could I be more excited?

Bill of (W)rights opened and we had small but very decent audiences, with only one couple walking out this weekend. Highlights included a standing ovation from the fundraiser audience (it was not the alcohol dammit) drinks at Jake's Pizza on Friday with the Cast where I made the best joke ever (wait for it) and a great debat/discussion at the talkback session on sunday. Come see the show, if nothing else it's different.

Best Joke Ever: Looking at Phil's discusting coagulated cheese fondue. "It looks more like Cheese fondon't!" Oh. Yeah. Best Joke Ever.

In other validation, Artsopolis is being honored at a lunchon on Thursday by the Silicon Valley Arts Coalition for our service to the arts community. Free lunch and a certificate for the wall...and Creme Brulee for desert...oh. yeah. Best award EVER!

Reviews: Not a huge amount of movie viewing time since last I blogged, but a few of note. Changing Lanes. Ben Affleck is getting a bunch of press for his performance in Hollywood land. I've never had a problem with his acting, just his choice of movies at times. Changing lanes was one of those movies where you are going "oh god no" the whole way through. Things could have been so different it x or y had happened. Yes, I know this is the point, and clearly for me, on the day I watched it, effective. I thought Sam the Man was great, one of his best roles. the last 20 minutes was a bit off course, but certainly a movie to make you think. A solid 3 3/4 RRD's.

The Fog, Should have been called "The snore" I'm sorry when the historical background that your entire movie is based on is too convoluted and boring to care, it makes the scary part, pretty uninteresting. It didn't suck, but I would have rather watched a Perfect Storm or Cider House Rules if I wanted to be reminded of a East Coast Fishing town. Funny how it takes place in a NORTHERN CALIFORNIA "fishing town". AND funny how it is filmed in British Columbia. I kind of hate that. Like people don't travel enough or see enough movies to know where things are filmed. Why can't the movie just take place in Canada? Is that helping us to lose the war? Seriously.

Rockstar closes this week, soon it will be all over. I will be free from yet another diappointment. Storm, my favorite was elminiated, but they all pretty much agreed they would be her backup band any day of the week. She just can't front theirs. How messed up is that?

I picked up the Entertainment Weekly TV Fall Preview. I might be screwed in terms of the number of shows I actually want to watch this season. What would we do without DVR? Most looking forward to four old faithfuls returning ER, How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs, and Medium, and three new shows, Studio 60, Rock 30, and Heros.

Favorite songs these days: Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars, Snakes on a Plane by Cobra Starship, and The raconteurs - Steady as She Goes.

And there you have it...I'm enjoying my evenings off with no rehearsal, somehow my copious amounts of spare time still isn't getting my room clean....or my car...

And the countdown continues...8 Days...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm smile rolls eyes
