03/13/2007: "I am 32 flavors and then some"
music: none at the momentmood: Poised and ready to Pounce
Greetings on the flip side of 32. I had a lovely birthday weekend. A whole 4 days. True I was hacking up lung butter for most of it, but I am in my continued state of bliss.
Friday was spent at the Lovely and Amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Crowds were light, the kids running about cute, and all my fishies were happy to see me. Bat Ray petting (and BABY bat rays, SO CUTE) was of particular note as were of course lots of animals around town. Exhausted from our adventure we crashed early but the sleep was much needed.
Saturday was a nice sleep in, blowing up some shit on xbox 360, and then a drive down to Monterey again to pick up a bike for my lovely man which he spied as we left on Friday. The bike is Orange and appropriately called a Caffiene F3. It will hopefully get some play this week. We Stopped by the beach on the way where we no longer laugh at the sign indicateing "warning, waves of inconsistant size and frequency" as we were hit unexpected and made a very wet venutre back to san jose. Dinner at Bella Mia was perfect, where the home made butternut squash ravioli and Pinot Noir did not disappoint, nor did the couch curling and a surprisingly great animated feature entitled Monster House post dinner. Very silly. But just perfect.
Sunday was brunch with my parents and Sandy in Palo Alto for My Mom's birthday and then a wonderfully sunny drive up to Safari West which was HEAVEN. If you haven't been here, GO. I'll post photos and video next week if I can, but this place was fantfriggintastic. The weather could not have been better and we timed it JUST right. There were only 6 people in the entire park and on the tour the next morning. They had had 85 and 120 the two pervious days. The Food was lovely campfire fair with a SUPER mac and cheese sending us to our luxury canvas tents (complete with space heaters and electric blankets to keep us toasty). We got a special treat of a personal visit to the Giraffe Barn where we got to love the giraffes. The 3 hour tour by open jeep was AWESOME. we saw all sorts of things up close. 10 feet from a cape buffalo, within arms reach of giraffes, watusi cattle, and dozens of antelopes. Such excitement and we learned so much too. The bird Aviary was awesome and the Cheetahs were just gorgeous. I couldn't possibly explain. You would just have to go yourself.
Monday we drove the happy jeep back the long way through wine country, and ended the evening with very full guts post La Fondue and snuggled into Tuesday. I've almost shook this cold, ALMOST and it's a FULL press as we launch ticketing stuff tomorrow but life is pretty damn spiffy.
Thank you all for your well wishes, sorry I was out of range for most of the last week, but your calls, songs and emails were appreciated!
