11/23/2004: "Thanks for all the fish."

music: Indigo Girls.
mood: tentative

Milestones: My neice Kayla took her first unassisted step. My sister is proud, I guess it is a big thing, but when you think about it, in the over all scheme of things...big deal right? I mean, MOST people don't do anything extrodinary in their lives, but even so, don't you think you would be able to remember your first step if it was really a big deal. We knew she was going to right? And though amazing in the small miracles kind of way, I think...if we get excited and praise her for this...what if its all she ever really accomplishes. Shouldn't we encourage her to strive for bigger things? What about the kid that starts running and just skips walking altogether, now we should be proud of them. Or maybe, not. Maybe in this age of running we should stop to applaud the one that walks, one, step, at , a time...anyway, rah rah!

Discoveries: Not everyone loves raymond. No really. it's true. A show that I detest, find totally unamusing and has plagued the airways in primetime AND synidcaiton for 10 YEARS is actually not loved by everyone. It's a lie. I have met a few people even as recently as last night who can not stand the show, and yet, not unlike the government, someone somewhere is making these decisions for us to have it on the tele. It is going off the air though this year.. for that I am THANKFUL!

Treats: I had free range, organic filet mignon last night for dinner. yuuuuuuuuhhhh mmmm. I've had sushi ( thus the title of my entry) all this week for the most part for lunch which my body was definately needing, and then I got this huge steak carving. Out with the surf and in with the turf. Accompanied my good 6 ounces with a baked potato and I was good for a hot shower, and 30 pages of the Tracy Kidder book I am reading for next weeks book club meeting. Slept horrible, but my body is happy anyway. No work tomorrow so maybe my best sleep from 6-730 can be extended to 9 or 10. I know I know I ALMOST had an entry that did not mention food... whatever...it's what keeps you alive. Food and art. oh and air. which is kinda like food for your lungs. which I guess makes art food for your soul...so yeah...it's all about food.

Closure: Lion Witch and the Wardrobe ended. I hear lots of good things about the show and was pretty proud of how it came together. As a result of the production and attendence, as well as the church exposure, The church voted to keep us at the space for the remainder of the season. Sold out performances the entire run helped but the show itself and how we treated the space was a large part as well. I didn't even get to see closing night we were so over sold. I think I have a secure diredting job next fall, assuming there is a next season for Tabard. Looking for more theatre opportunities AFTER the new year. December will be focused on box office duty for the Pear Avenue theatre and WRITING. I got a play and some short stories to finish. The time is here.

Plans & Thanks: There is a ton going on this weekend...Shows to see, friends with comedy gigs, family in town, movies to get to, Monopoly and scrabble to kick ass in, oh and FOOD to eat. Should be a quiet a Thursday with my parents and brother and any friends I can catch passing through. An unknown guest my brother refuses to disclose is attending but no other known guests. Xmas will be the big to do with brother sandy, sister Brette and her husband Jason, the London Crowd, possibly my brother in law and his wife and no doubt some stragglers from out and about visiting so we will probably only have 3 days of food to eat on thursday instead of 7 dyas worth. Maybe. though I'm not sure it works that way. Lots to do indeed, and catch up on reading and sleep perhaps. The Apprentice is sure to be a good episode, I can't BELIEVE they are showing it on Thursday...how lame...people are eating, asleep or watching football on Thursday... anyway, i will have to make sure I don't miss it, either that or tape it.

Invicible: I know this is a death wish, but I just have to say, my entire office has been ill, VERY ill, as well as the cast of my show for almost 3 months (in rotation) and I have get to succumb. My only explaination as I am just as over worked and exposed to germs as they are, is that I donated blos in October which always seems to keep me healthier. Either that or I rock. Yeah, it's probably just cause I rock. no doubt.

Quote of the day: Brian Andreas is one of my favorite poets ( i say that like I like a lot, I don't) he is real and smart, and complex and I received two books of his from the Artistic director for doing the show this past several months. Here is one os SO MANY great "stories".

"Next Big Thing: on the lookout fo the next big thing because it would solve a lot of the problems of having to deal with the same old stuff."

Website of the day: Brian Andreas's new book is printed on visionpaper...check it out

I will away from the computer this weekend, more to report on and inquire about Monday. Have a good one. I'm thankful you all are out there!

So, you take the time to write a whole long blog article, and then some picky person like me comes along and calls you on one small detail! wink There is no justice...

> possibly my brother in law and his wife

That confused me for a while, 'coz your brother in law's wife is your sister, unless there has been some sneaky divorcing that I don't know about going on... then I figured out you meant your brother-in-law's brother, which is actually your brother-out-law... LOL

Yeah yeah, I know I'm a smartarse, but I can't help it, my sister is a geneologist!

Oh yeah, and you do rock for staying healthy while I finally succumbed to a cold. I blame it on my vegemitelessness...
