09/05/2004: "That's entertainment!"

music: Eve 6
mood: Refreshed

After a busy week and an unscheduled emotional roller coaster I have vegetated for the last 48 hours and am feeling better, friskier, slightly more stable, and that's a good thing as they say. Some people exorcise to relax, some read, others play video games, I watch movies. I have always loved them, the act of observing the celuloid art has always calmed and rejuvinated me. I looked forward to the weekends or opening nights during highschool, took advantage many times of both cable and the cheap video store at College and have benfitted greatly from Chris's Netflix subscriptionand my hollywood video membership. Whether it be a documentary, art flick, foreigh film or blockbuster action flick I have to say even if the movie sucks, its at least usually amusing. And now two services have made it known that they plan to partner up.. Netflix and TiVO will soon allow members of both to download films instead of mail them. I have always been impressed with the turn around time of netflix, and though I don't own a TiVo, those that have them swear by them. During the olympics, my friend ANu and I had been waiting and WAITING for a swim race we wanted to see, we left the room for about 10 mintues and came in at the very end...luckily she had been recording it on TiVO and we wated it virtually live. Very cool. so NOW even better new movies can be loaded on to your computer and I assume either watched there or burned to a DVD. Interesting concept...Not sure it will work, and not sure how they really get around the legalities of it, but the above article is worth a look. If they would just move the price of a movie in the theatre to oh say $7 I might go to the theatre more ofte, but then again there is alot to be siad for being able to drink a beer, love a dog and go to the bathroom without missing anything. Comfort in your own is part of that relaxation process I guess...

Hope your weekend is going well..

Cheers!

I reread and confirmed in another article that it wod ideally download into the TiVO box directly and then you just watch it there...
