 Yat-Kha

For some unfathomable reason

I have been in a Good Mood all day!

I now celebrate with Seaview brut de brut
and it is most agreeable.

The last time I had a Good Mood

was, oh, Friday, 30 September 2005?

here is some evidence:

*

waal, things are lookan up!

got the stuff posted on Tue
got the blood test done on Wed
last nite - in bed before midnight for the first time in WEEKS!

got up early today - it's refreshingly overcast so I get to wear my boots!

get to work, Robert Forster's telling me stuff
Noah Taylor plays me this amazing throat-singing Tuvan guy Albert Kuvezin
doan a cover of When the Levee Breaks!

ah, Seek & Destroy!

We are aboriginal people of Siberia and why we have to bear the racialistic offences in own land

*

now Suicide!

Now Guitar Wolf!
(vale Bass Wolf )

Got a few Projects to hit on the weekend,

thinkan 'bout goan to JAZZ!

PS: found the legendary "thick lips & curly hair" thang, quite by accident!

SO -

I give you, Parishioners,

Yat-Kha - Tuvan throat-singing punk band!

From the opening strum of Led Zeppelin's 'When The Levee Breaks', 'Re-Covers' sets its stall as a reverent but unapologetic album. Simmering the song to its bones, Kuvezin rebuilds it as a Siberian folk masterpiece, his unnervingly deep growl spinning a magical, mesmeric tale over the delicate instrumentation.

He is a perfect fisherman, a good hunter and an expert of medicinal herbs

and this is goo!

Kraftwerk's 'The Man Machine' becomes a haunting canvass of guitar effects and acoustic play-about, with overtone chanting roaming for carrion. These eerie high-frequency melodies knock against the rich deep-throat bass vocal. Quite how they could come out of the same larynx - simultaneously or not - is a miracle.

her name means 'little bird' in Tuvan

and this is goo!

read the rest - it's pretty compelling!

Here's the track listing -
downloads are here,

go watch & listen!

AND BUY THIS ALBUM!!!

 Nasubi

I maintain, Parishioners,

profound and abiding

Love, Admiration & Fascination

for, of & with many things Japanese.

One such is their "humiliation" shows
(remember that Simpsons episode?)

Parishioners may also recall Clive James' fascination with the genre.

I have only recently discovered Nasubi!

Nasubi hearts rice!

One good story is here,

another is here (great site, btw)

and here is an interview in English.

This is truly a Triumph of Spirit!

Recent interviews with the Denpa Shonen producer, Yuki Takagi, display telling insights into the minds of the program makers. She was quoted as saying that the series would never be shown abroad - because of the nudity.
"Nasubi is nude. Foreign people would gain a bad image of Nippon Television if they saw it... it might reflect badly on Japanese culture."

 The Hustle

Synchronicity,

Parishioners.

The other day I find out that Gary Benchley is a hoax,

today I stumble across this:
Who is the Real JT LeRoy? A search for the true identity of a great literary hustler

I love a good hoax,

and now I have a whole new subculture to explore

and this is a great photo!

 Disappointment

One day,

Parishioners,

one day

every year

I lose my Faith...

Today
is Walk to Work Day,

the beginning of Good Will Week,

It is the 280th day of the year (281st in a leap year).

However, due to the implementation of the Gregorian calendar, this day does not exist in this year in Italy, Portugal, Poland or Spain.

Some Events:

1957 - Dick Clark's "American Bandstand" debuts.

1957 - A fire in the Windscale plutonium production reactor, in northern England, causes the release of radioactive material, which is later blamed for 39 cancer deaths.

1959 - Far side of the Moon seen for first time, compliments of U.S.S.R.'s Luna 3.

1963 - John F. Kennedy signs ratification for nuclear test ban treaty.

1982 - Cats opens on Broadway and runs for nearly 18 years before closing on September 10, 2000.

1985 - The "Achille Lauro" is hijacked by Palestinian terrorists.

1998 - Gay student Matthew Shepard, beaten the night before, is left tied to a fence and dies in Laramie, Wyoming, United States.

2001 - Start of U.S. invasion of Afghanistan with an air assault and covert operations on the ground.

2003 - California recall: California governor Gray Davis is recalled from office and replaced by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

2004 - King Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia abdicates.

Some Births:

1885 - Niels Bohr, Danish physicist, Nobel Prize laureate (d. 1962 )

1897 - Elijah Muhammad, American Black Muslim leader (d. 1975)

1900 - Heinrich Himmler, Nazi official and leader of the SS (d. 1945)

1922 - Martha Stewart (Haworth), singer and actress

1917 - June Allyson, American actress

1927 - Al Martino (Cini) , singer and actor

1931 - Desmond Tutu, South African Anglican archbishop and anti-apartheid activist

1934 - Amiri Baraka, American playwright and poet

1935 - Thomas Keneally, Australian author

1939 - Harold Kroto, British chemist

1952 - Vladimir Putin, President of Russia

1955 - Yo-Yo Ma, French-born cellist

1968 - Thom Yorke, English singer (Radiohead)

Some Holidays:

RC Saints - Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary; formerly Saint Justina, Saint Osyth

Saints Sergius and Bacchus; (also see October 7; Eastern Orthodox liturgics)

East Germany - Republic Day

Some Beers:

I like the idea of celebrating with Saint Bacchus!

I am currently raising some choice weissbieren -

finest drops known to man:

Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier
Erdinger Kristallklar
Schöfferhofer Kristallweizen
Erdinger Weissbier

and, for old times sake,

Matilda Bay Redback Beer

My greatest disappointment, however,

is discovering that
the legend that was Gary Benchley
is not real...
