 Crazy Skinny Baldy Guy

From Pseud's Corner, Private Eye #1116

I haven’t got round to changing the battery in my alarm clock, so I get my assistant to give me a wake-up call about 10 am instead. I’ll then go downstairs, put on some coffee – always organic, always decaffeinated – and feed Helix, my dog. I named him after the chromosome structure that makes up DNA.

 Blessings

'Tseems The Whirl
has discovered and appreciated

the gentle chiding
the moral outrage
the commentary on pop culture and
the minutiae of Parish life

which constitute SALVATION

As a result, we have the privilege of passing on six Gmail Invites.

We will happily exchange these for blessings -

that is, please find/compose/modify a blessing -
any religion, any language -

and bestow it upon this humble site.

The first six deemed worthy shall earn a Gmail account.

 Digital

17-9-4

I am such a nerd;

no Pity; just Forgiveness, please.

I have been intrigued with codes, cyphers, and languages
for a very long time.

And I just finished Quicksilver.

Tonight,
I finally sat down with Dr C
and ran the binary digital alphabet thang:

pinky is 1
ring finger is 2
middle finger is 4
index finger is 8
thumb is 16

combinations of fingers signify letters:

'peace' = 12 = l = LOVE [The Benediction uses the same fingers, except they are held together]

'fuck you' = 8 = h = HATE

'stick it up your arse' = 1 = a = ARSEHOLE

'devil horns' = 9 = i = IDOLATRY/IDLE HANDS/INFIDEL!

'swingin'/'cool'/'hang loose' [pinky + index + thumb] = 25 = y = YAUWZZA!!!

'thumbs up' = 16 = o = OK

'gun' = 24 = x = XTERMINATE!

Praise be!

I haven't figured out Here is the Church, Here is the Steeple
or Ali G's Westside

And re-interpreting the Standard Signing Alphabet

will be great fun!

All contributions welcome!

If this is Turkish Nanny, it must be Tuesday

I heard the voice
I looked up:

It is.

YAY! It's Turkish Nanny!

My first thought this time was:

who do the Turks rate as Butlers?
(Germans would be SO funny!)

Is The Butler the same nationality as The Boss?

Is he a secret agent, like Waterbury?

Can anyone help me out?

***

PS: Did I just get that right: they have spray mayonnaise in a can in Turkey?

I'm going!

 Friday nite, Tsbinnna Long Day

17-9-4

Has indeed...

I entertain Dr Coopers at The Rectory,
ironing out the week.

We relax,

read and discuss:

Johnny's last Stand - an interview with Johnny Ramone, some months prior to his demise, by Charles M Young, Rolling Stone

Boing Boing also has the tab for "I Wanna Be Sedated"

Props also to Achewood for remembering

And finally, this aged but excellent story: The War Between alt.tasteless and rec.pets.cats

 The Joy of Television

After another long hard day of Good Works
I finally shut the place down,
pull up stumps,
buy petrol ($1.14!)
and celebrate the days work with a champage -
working class, of course…

I'm sick of the election - I'll make up my mind
when its ALL out there.

So I'm channel flipping
& come across
The Worlds Dorkiest Van Halen/DLR fan.

I am embarrassed for him.

Then I realise I am watching Australian Idol!
WOW - First Time Ever!!!

 Pseud's Corner

from Pseud's Corner, Private Eye # 1114

…the real test of a civilisation lies not in its politics but in its wine, which captures the soil, the climate, the religion and the social order, all glistening at the rim of the glass. The awfulness of modern Arabia is reflected in its inability to produce a single drop of the stuff. The beauty of Provence and the rootedness of its people can be glimpsed in its wines. And if anything warns against the Franco-German alliance, it is the absurdity of growing Riesling in France or Chardonnay in the Rhineland.

 Send Money NOW!!!

Paul Kelly is broke

He wrote a song about Bradman
for a tv show.

It has a non-sequitur chorus,
la-la-las
a drum machine,

and turgid, shitty prose.

Aw, Jesu, Paul - the soundtrack to Fireflies was so goo…

 Cliché Busting!

An ad for a programme on Radio National finishes:

Remember;

               all great minds...

                                         don’t think the same.

I did the double-take -

 The Boots of Cars

As much as I hate telstra
[& I really hate telstra]

I love talking to friends on the phone.

In Japan, I spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars
[& I really, really hate NTT - Japanese telstra except totally owned by the government
& about ten times more expensive & about ten time more hateful]

trying to call people - some of whom I hadn't seen in years!

Last night I caught up with some friends I hadn't spoken with in ages;
waal, months...

I caught up on some innerestan events back in The Ol Stompan Ground
and had some Good News of m'own to share in return.

I also got to talk to Planet
and it was truly worth the wait:

She

         said

"I spend a lot of my life in the boots of cars"

It's true!

 That Sexy Nature Chick

28-8-4

Today was one of those rare Saturdays when I didn’t have Good Works to perform.

I slept late, got to listen to The Comfort Zone & The Music Show, used my new international bank account, bought a paper, a Fathers Day card, drugs, teatowels & pillowslips.

I got to read the paper, listen to Clive James, eat soup, tend to my affairs and read a little Quicksilver.

About 3:30 I was wondering what to do - the choice came down to:
go to work or
go for a walk.

I chose the latter.

I dug through the box of tapes & found something interesting, cranked up my temperamental vintage walkman (my third; I smashed the other two as punishment for failure) and set off for, initially, the Wildflower Nursery over in Cathyville.

You see, Spring has sprung & I wanna go check out which trees to start growing.
Spring has a very strong appeal for me - means many things: hanami, other memories of Japan, a new start, end of winter depression, birthday soon, New Year a bit later…

Warning - this is a long one! Click below to atone for your sins.
