07/25/2006: "Jane Hutcheon"
Australian Parishioners
may have a large moist spot for the ABC's
ace foreign correspondent and cutie-pie with a beautiful voice
Jane Hutcheon!

From one ABC site:
Jane Hutcheon has been a reporter for 20 years, beginning with radio and television in Hong Kong, and then SBS television before joining the ABC in 1994. She was ABC China Correspondent based in Beijing from 1995 to 2001, then returned to Australia to be presenter of ABC TV's World at Noon program. She was the ABC's Middle East correspondent in 2003-2004 and covered stories including the war in Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, elections in Iran, terrorist bombings in Istanbul and the death of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Jane moved to London in February 2005 to take up the appointment of Europe correspondent for the ABC. Jane speaks French ('Tish!) and is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
Y'see, Janie was born & raised in Hong Kong; "the daughter of a Eurasian mother and an Anglo-Saxon newspaperman, both from Shanghai" which explains to me, at least, a lot of her ace foreign correspondent- and cutie-pie-ness.
A slightly more informative ABC bio is here:

Curiously, Janie graduated with a BA (with a distinction) in Communications from Charles Sturt University in, of all places, Bathurst, NSW.
She has written a book - From Rice to Riches: A Personal Journey through a Changing China - tuff review here
An interesting aside is her chat with David Friedman (who?) about Madonna taking up Kabbalah
The last time I saw her was shivering in The Vatican, covering the election of the new spooky Pope.
However,
recent events have returned her to
Lebanon
to report on the war...
Possibly due to her experience and contacts,
but more probably because
The Gods
shall not let anyone
muss one hair
on her Angelic head!
Be Safe, Sister Janie...
