 01/11/2006: "Sue Lloyd"

I promised you, Parishioners,
some expatiation of the reference
I made to The Great Michael Caine (TGMC) last post.

The other night I was in correspondence with Brother B.
I wrote:

"...also, The Ipcress Files is on TV in case I feel like being spooked... mind you, Alfie does know how to charm a lady..."

"Courtney, I am going to cook you the best meal you've ever eaten."
threatens Harry Palmer (TGMC),

then he makes an omelette, or such...

Sergeant Harry Palmer

Jean Courtney is played by Sue Lloyd

isn't she LOVELY!

After a successful stint as a model and several months of acting lessons, she began a reasonably busy acting career, establishing an apparent penchant for the spy genre. For television, appearances included The Saint (1962), The Sentimental Agent (1963), The Avengers (1965), Department S (1969) and Jason King (1971) with Peter Wyngarde, The Persuaders! (1971), The Sweeney (1976) and Randal and Hopkirk (Deceased). She also spent a year on the ITC classic series The Baron (1966) as Cordelia Winfield.

Her motion picture career was in keeping with her television work, genre-wise. Her first role on record was as Jean in 1965's The Ipcress File. After Number One of the Secret Service (1977) came Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978, with Joanna Lumley) and The Bitch (1979, with Ian Hendry).

Quelle pedigree!

and I reckon she'd give Mrs Peel a run for her money

Mrs Peel, we are needed

And just by the way,
isn't the present Mrs Peel a dead ringer for Emma Thompson?

The Sweeney!!!

Regan & Carter are back - and they mean business.

la'ah, guv'nah!

PS: wonderful Sweeney rhyming slang dictionary here!
