07/28/2005: "Imaginary Kisses"
It has been AGES
since I watched Rage
and enjoied it.
Tonight
it is FANTASTIC!
I think it has something to do with
Splendour in the Grass this weekend
& this is a special selection.
Nonetheless,
it is FANTASTIC!!!
I have not held as much Hope for music
in YEARS!
It is a message.
---
I went to bed last night with the Modern Giants album Satellite Nights
and a glass of cab sav.
There is a story below.
A few weeks ago
in the afternoon
I was smitten with a migraine
and was forced to retire to The Rectory
for the duration.
I took a fistful of drugs,
hit the pallet
and switched on the radio;
RN's The Deep End had a live band in the studio.
To my greatest joi
they were fantastic!
Strummy strummy guitars,
a little girl singing "heartbeat, heartbeat"
slightly outta tune
AND A GUY TELLIN' STORIES!!!
I love this stuff!
I fell asleep the second they finished
with a smile on my face
and awoke, refreshed and healthy,
early the next day
still smiling - "heartbeat, heartbeat"
I HAD to have the album
and finally carved out some special time
to listen to it yesterday.
SO me & Modern Giants,
the little girl singing "heartbeat, heartbeat"
and a glass of cab sav
went to bed last night.
She sang,
they played,
he told me stories,
I forgot about the wine
and I slept
properly;
completely,
deeply,
with happy dreams
for the first time in two weeks.
I awoke late today
with a smile on my face
& a smatter of imaginary kisses.
