02/14/2005: "Diary of a Rockstar, 14-Feb-04"

Lots of things I had to do this weekend, but I was very lazy, and so blew most of them off! I did go for a brisk walk/jog up the hill on Saturday - poor Bear couldn't keep up, even though I wore my big heavy army boots, and walked most of the way. blush One thing I did do was to add some anti-spam measures to my blog site to try and stop all the comment-spam I was getting - seems to be working so far... I also studied the "crib sheets" that Susannah (my business manager) made up for me, with details about the band members and so on.

I went to see my hair-stylist today! Yeah, I make it sound like I have a personal stylist, but the truth is I haven't set foot in a hairdressers for at least a year, and more likely two. I wanted to find a guy who knows how to deal with guys long hair, and James of "Salon Blu" fit the bill. Expensive, sure, but I like the way it looks and feels now, and hey, Rockstars are allowed to spend money on their hair - do you Really think the grunge look comes for free? LOL He recommended that I stop wearing a pony-tail because it has caused a lot of damage (a lot of broken hair), so its the Rockstar-look permanently from now on!

Tonight and tomorrow I will be working on my audition numbers, making sure I have them down pat, and also burn the CD that I will be using for accompaniment. I think I've settled on "Roadhouse Blues" as my #1 piece, and I'll have "Tree Dreaming" and "Need You Tonight" ready for backup.

I found a hotel that's walking distance from the auditions, so I can check in, and then play it by ear as to when I start lining up. Lets hope its not raining! (yeah, some hope for Seattle! razz )

Hung like a rock star
Shite pub rock band INXS are holding open auditions for a new lead singer, after the last one got fed up with his slutty wife and hung himself in a Sydney hotel room 8 years ago. The turnout in London this week was described as "modest".

Let's examine the facts: Michael Hutchence was well-known for being Australian, shagging Kylie, and liking lots of drugs. I can think of two obvious candidates with similar credentials, but Nick Cave can be discounted as he has a certain amount of credibility still intact.

Step forward Jason Donovan. You know you want it.

Also on the subject of dead rock stars, Dot has kindly brought it to my attention that today is Nirvana Day. Load up on drugs and kill your friends, everyone.

Kirk has one daughter, April, born in 1988 to his first wife Karen. In December 1993 Kirk married singer Deni Hines and both of them shared his terrace home in Potts Point. The marriage lasted a short time and the two parted ways in early 1995. During the Dirty Honeymoon tour of 1994, he sold his Cammeray home for around 1.3 million, monitoring the auction by phone from Los Angeles. These days Kirk is engaged to freelance DJ Louise Hegarty and talks are that the two will wed sometime in 1998. He has just bought a large farm in Kangaroo Valley and has become quite fond of digging his hands in the soil.

Who knows at this time what the future holds for Kirk. A well deserved break and time to heal is necessary before he and the rest of INXS can make any decision as to their future.

ciao!

You're right about Roudhouse, I had already ditched it in favour of Light my Fire, or possibly Break on Through. BUT, I am pretty sure I have decided to go in with guns blazing, and pull out Tree Dreaming first off - I'm prolly just gonna get one chance at this, and doing an original song has gotta be a big boost in points for style (although potentially minus several million for good thinking, eh?)

Sirrah,

[note that 'sirrah' turned up on Gitz AFTER i wrote it here]

are we on the same freq or what?

anyhow, dont go with an original cuz it doesnt give the judges anything to compare you with - they cant tell if you are good or bad.

and theres always the slim chance they wont like the song...

PS any chance of you sending me the vid in a format thatll ge thru the wall?

I did! (I got addressed as sirrah by two seperate people in the space of an hour).

Yeah, the jury is still out on the musical choice. They recommend having three songs ready to go, so I'll probably not actually decide until the last minute.

If I get a chance and I can sample all three I can put in my two cents. I would also like to do a mock interview with you if you are game. I have the letter almost done for you as well. I tend to initially agree with the Reverend Dr....the origianl should be your second song...we can chat. Get PSYCHED!!!
